Villa Uma Santi

Villa Uma Santi comprises of three pavilions arranged vertically over beautiful terraced gardens with stunning 180-degrees views.

Down two sets of steps from the entrance is, a one-bedroom pavilion with a four-poster canopied queen-size bed set under a vaulted ceiling and in front of doors opening onto a private terrace. A statement terrazzo tub stands on a floor of smooth white pebbles in the ensuite bathroom, framed by walls of Palimanan and lavastone, with a lime-washed teakwood wardrobe, step-in shower and garden views.

More stairs will lead you to the other two bedrooms, with king-size beds. Tucked under the living room, and reached via an arc of steps cut into the hillside, is the villa’s master bedroom. The bedroom opens straight onto the pool deck and the gorgeous blue-stone infinity-edge swimming pool, which juts out into the valley.

Villa Uma Santi is secluded but by no means remote; the restaurants, boutiques and spas of Ubud are just a 15-minute drive south (there’s a complimentary daily shuttle from the villa) or a brisk 1¼-hour walk along the Campuhan Ridge. But many prefer to stay put, being looked after by the seven-strong villa team and enjoying home cooked meals chosen from a priced villa menu of Indonesian and western dishes.

This is a great place for a romantic break for two, yet with two more bedrooms (one with an adjoining room that can be used as an extra bedroom), groups of couples and friends will surely be won over by its charm too. With lots of stairs and vertiginous, unguarded drops though, it is not the best place for the very old or the very young.
